economic development

In its most basic form, Economic Development is the creation of new wealth. For artists and innovative businesses, that can be accomplished in a variety of ways. The OCSD is committed to pursuing many avenues to act both as a resource and an economic catalyst for Loveland’s Creative Sector.

In order to provide a framework for this mission, a targeted Economic Development plan has been designed and adopted. This plan will be periodically updated to showcase up-to-date data and progress. The Action Plan for economic development includes:

  • Partner with existing organizations with the completion of new contracts; with the creation of an inventory of available equipment and technology in order to cross-pollinate, foster healthy competition and promote Loveland’s business capacities
  • Develop incentive plans and public/private partnerships to leverage new creative sector jobs
  • Develop marketing pieces to recruit jobs for the Loveland Creative Sector; to partner with local organizations to distribute this marketing piece across the country
  • Partner with Economic Gardening to provide baseline data and then follow up data in each area in 2014
  • Finalize the Americans for the Arts Survey and present results to community/county partners in early 2012; update data annually
  • Conduct market research with the current creative sector to assess the business climate and understand where the gaps in services/resources exist, use this assessment to support existing and recruit new entrepreneurs and businesses
  • Develop additional revenue-generating opportunities that apply to existing businesses

Our success is your success. We look forward to partnering with the creative sector to make this happen!
